How to get excited about being more promotable
There a lot of people who feel like they need to get excited about a promotion because they is what will get them the job, however, rather you get excited or not is not what will pay the bills in the end. There is much reason for you to get excited, however, you will want to keep in mind that you might get all excited about a promotion and then have it snatched away from you. You will need to learn how to balance out your excitement and how you can keep yourself from looking badly in front of the other co-workers, but so that the boss doesn't see you in the bad light.
You will first need to understand what this promotion will mean for you. Does this promotion mean more time away from work or more time at work? Does this mean that you are going to reap the benefits in a financial way? You need to take the time to see what it is that you are bargaining for. You will need to consider what about the promotion that appeals the most to you. You will want to keep in mind that your excitement is the most important part of the promotion to your motivation for the job. Your excitement doesn't necessarily mean that you will get it or not, but it is what will push you to be good at the job.
Secondly, you will not only want to think about what the promotion means to you and how it will affect you, but you have to think about your family as well. You will notice your excitement will build when you have to go home and tell your mate that you are going to make $12, 000 more a year and get two weeks paid vacation instead of one. Your mate will be just as excited as you are, because they will be able to see some benefits from the job promotion as well. You need to rely on your family and friends to help support you and your excitement for the promotion will increase.
Also, keep in mind that the boss is always happy to see an excited and motivated worker, however, he or she may not feel so nice about having to tell you that you missed the opportunity because of something like seniority. It's very good to get excited however, you will need to consider the fact that you will need to deal with the possibility of not getting the job too. You will find that there are a lot of possibilities that could destroy your chances of getting the job because someone else was better or more experienced. You need to prepare yourself for the worst because you never really know how the promotion will go until it is announced.
You will want to make sure that you keep in mind that there are some times where you are going to be naturally interested in a promotion and you will also find that your excitement will come naturally to you as well. You will want to keep in mind that there are times where you need to be a little apprehensive because you really don't know if this is something that you will be able to achieve or earn, so you don't want to have yourself feeling down over a missed promotion. You will need to learn how to balance out your excitement so that you don't end up having a let down or giving the wrong impression to the boss, because you may not be able to show the excitement that you have and they may end thinking that you aren't interested.
