Today's Story on ADAPTING TO CHANGE: Upon reflection we see many things that we could have done better; however, although we know this to be true we don't take any notice of the message it brings. Upon reflection implies that in time after an event you can see a better course of action. Why? Because we were more detached from the anguish than that moment had brought us. If only we could introduce that calmness at the time of the torment. Of course that would be a golden quality should we possess it. But it isn't beyond our reach. We first need to see the advantages of possessing this quality and then make a goal to climb in small steps to achieve it. Intuition is another sense we often pay no attention to. This sense brings us information that we later regret ignoring. The work here is not to establish a step by step plan to establish a goal, but to let go of other influences that take us away from the guidance our intuition is bringing us. Today's story draws a parallel with intuition, some guidance is offered and the listener pays no heed to. THE MOUNTAIN CLIMBER They tell the story of a mountain climber who, desperate to conquer the Aconcagua, initiated his climb after years of preparation. But he wanted the glory to himself; therefore, he went up alone. He started climbing and it was becoming later, and later. He did not prepare for camping, but decided to keep on going. Soon it got dark. Night fell with heaviness at a very high altitude. Visibility was zero. Everything was black. There was no moon, and the stars were covered by clouds. As he was climbing a ridge at about 100 meters from the top, he slipped and fell. Falling rapidly he could only see blotches of darkness that passed. He felt a terrible sensation of being sucked in by gravity. He kept falling... and in those anguishing moment's good and bad memories passed through his mind. He thought certainly he would die. But then he felt a jolt that almost tore him in half. Yes! Like any good mountain climber he had staked himself with a long rope tied to his waist. In those moments of stillness, suspended in the air he had no other choice but to shout: "HELP ME GOD. HELP ME!" All of a sudden he heard a deep voice from heaven... "What do you want me to do?" "SAVE ME." "Do you REALLY think that I can save you?" "OF COURSE MY GOD." "Then cut the rope that is holding you up." There was another moment of silence and stillness. The man just held tighter to the rope. The rescue team says that the next day they found a frozen mountain climber hanging strongly to a rope... TWO FEET OFF THE GROUND. Why are people so hostile to the words of the Bible and Christ?
Why is it when you use the words of the Bible or the Wisdom of the Prophets all of a sudden people become so hostile?
Is not the Book of Proverbs one of the oldest books of wisdom? Is not the Song of Solomon one of the oldest love songs? Are the words of Christ and His message so different to any other elightened one? If I were to quote any "modern" philosopher that would be okay but when I quote the words of Christ and the Books He would have known there is an attack?
It is not religion that has been the source of war but man, as the Bible says. Anyway, the interpretation of Biblical history, spiritual guidance and wisdom is differentiated in the Bible as you have many different books about different things. The Ancient Israelites were recording their laws, their history, and their spiritual wisdom so although stoning may be in the Bible as Jewish Law, I quote from the Books of spiritual wisdom. As usual those who wish to mock and deride attack superficially without thought.
Second-point- there is a difference between religion and spirituality as Chirst also pointed out the Pharisees and Saducees.

Dear contributors: what are your thoughts about this poem?
To cure the ills of today
To remedy the hurt and pain
The Credit Crunch, and the lies
Of the shortage in fuel supplies
The misery caused by Swine flue
And a host of other issues
What would you like to fall?
Diamonds, pearl, or golden coins,
Cigarettes, food, bear or wine
Books of wisdom, of better still
Pamphlets, posters and leaflets
For these times of exigency
Or may be you would suggest
Petroleum raining down on us,
Or simple water, to wash it all
Into some bottomless sea?
What would you like to fall from the skies today?
To cure the ills of today
To remedy the hurt and pain
The Credit Crunch, and the lies
Of the shortage in fuel supplies
The misery caused by Swine flue
And a host of other issues
What would you like to fall from the skies?

The human race has been given so many philosophies and scriptures to learn from, why have they not?
It seems that all human beings have drawn from these books of wisdom is the will to destroy all that is different from themselves and the will to ignore all that is good in the books.
Every scripture directs mankind to choose peace primarily, so why does man choose to ignore the most important part of these teachings?
Jay, at no point did I suggest that antiquity is the only source of wisdom. However, if an ancient philosophy is not wise it will be lost and stay lost very quickly. The scriptures and philosophies which have survived over 1000 years all have a great deal of wisdom in them. You said Money, Power and Security are the things which motivate people these days. This is true now as it always but now it has got out of control. It's now Greed, Vanity and Paranoia. Where people are becoming so vain to not respect the wisdom which will remain constant through human existance, humans will make severe mistakes.
This is how the current recession was created: simple foolish greed, no philosophy, big egos, no common sense.

Where does God say in his books of wisdom that it is permissable for you to force your belief on others?
Where does your Science books say it is ok for you to force your disbelieve upon others?
Are you not both to blame for the error you see everyday in here?
