Negative Attitudes
Today's Story on LOVE: The extent to which we GIVE to a person is the extent to which we feel them giving love to us. If we are not totally giving, we will not be open enough to receive what they are giving back to us. In this recognition is the very quality of receiving. We get to receive the very gift or feeling that we give. How often is one kiss enough? Imagine a five or six year old when you give them a loving kiss. It is only a moment later that they give you one back. Most adults are aware of the principle 'to give is to receive, ' but many will have not practiced it too often. To practice and receive the benefits will allow you to practice the principle more frequently. Whichever way that you choose to operate your life, there will be areas you have never tried and tested. Let me explain with a story. A story about understanding! If you are not willing to understand a new principle, belief or fundamental piece of knowledge, then you will never experience its delights... THE FISH AND THE TURTLE Once upon a time there was a fish. And just because it was a fish, it had lived all its life in the water and knew nothing whatever about anything else but water. And one day as it swam about in the lake where all its days had been spent, it happened to meet a turtle of its acquaintance who had just come back from a little excursion on the land. "Good day, Mr. Turtle!" said the fish. "I have not seen you for a long time. Where have you been?" "Oh", said the turtle, "I have just been for a trip on dry land." "On dry land!" exclaimed the fish. "What do you mean by on dry land? There is no dry land. I had never seen such a thing. Dry land is nothing." "Well, " said the turtle good-naturedly. "If you want to think so, of course you may; there is no one who can hinder you. But that's where I've been, all the same." "Oh, come, " said the fish. "Try to talk sense. Just tell me now what is this land of yours like? Is it all wet?" "No, it is not wet, " said the turtle. "Is it nice and fresh and cool?" asked the fish. "No, it is not nice and fresh and cool, " the turtle replied. "Is it clear so that light can come through it?" "No, it is not clear. Light cannot come through it." "Is it soft and yielding, so that I can move my fins about in it and push my nose through it?" "No, it is not soft and yielding. You could not swim in it." "Does it move or flow in streams?" "No, it neither moves nor flows in streams." "Does it ever rise up into waves then, with white foams in them?" asked the fish, impatient at this string of No's. "No!" replied the turtle, truthfully. "It never rises up into waves that I have seen." "There now, " exclaimed the fish triumphantly. "Didn't I tell you that this land of yours was just nothing? I have just asked, and you have answered me that it is neither wet nor cool, not clear nor soft and that it does not flow in streams nor rise up into waves. And if it isn't a single one of these things what else is it but nothing? Don't tell me." "Well, well", said the turtle, "If you are determined to think that dry land is nothing, I suppose you must just go on thinking so. But any one who knows what is water and what is land would say you were just a silly fish, for you think that anything you have never known is nothing just because you have never known it." And with that the turtle turned away and, leaving the fish behind in its little pond of water, set out on another excursion over the dry land that was nothing. Why is it that the English have a genrally negative attitude to "Sales"? (Answers: 12) (Comments: 0)
"Sales" of any kind in this country generally seems to get knocked and criticised by the genral public. Is this just my impression or do others feel the same. After all the fact is that "Sales" be that door to door, telephone, or any type of sales genrates money to pay for evrybody elses jobs as well as the salesman. If there wasn't any "Sales" there wouldn't be any businesses ergo there wouldn't be any jobs.

Negative attitudes at work? (Answers: 10) (Comments: 0)
I went back to work in October. My son will be 9 months old on Monday and since I went back he seems to be ill all the time. First he has conjunctivitis (cants spell that sorry) and then he had a cough which would not clear up, 2 visits to the doctors later they now say he has a chest infection and asthma. He is now on anti biotics and will get an inhaler next week.
Now my work are being really unhelpful. I know i'm there to work and when Im not there yes it can have an knock on effect. The 1st time Logan was ill I ran around finding sitters so in the end his Grandma and Uncle watched him so I could go to work and the 2nd time I am having to take the time off and the general attitude of my work is that I should get a baby sitter!!
Logan is not well enough to be at nursery and just wants his mummy. I was going to get his uncle to watch him today so I could go in today but this morning I just thought sod it!! My baby is more important than anything but I have 2 children that I need to support. I feel like my head is going to explode.
Has anyone been through similar things with their employer and what did you do? Any help or advice would be gratefully welcomed :o)

Why do people have a negative attitude towards South Africa? (Answers: 19) (Comments: 0)
I was brought up in South Africa (although not born there) and I struggle to understand why people in other countries have a negative attitude towards South Africa. Not only foreigners, but ex pats too.
There are some (friends of mine) who constantly put down South Africa and repeat that they will never return there to live, but proudly support the rugby and cricket teams which I think is a contradiction. My attitude is that if you don't accept the country for what it is and embrace the change that has happened, then p*ss off to another country but don't tell everyone how great the South African sporting teams are and how much you miss 'home'.
Fact - the South African constitution is the most democratic in the world!

Why are people often so negative about teachers? (Answers: 15) (Comments: 0)
I'm a teacher myself, and I was reading some articles about the NUT pay strike (which I disagree with). The comments made by people about teachers in general didn't exactly surprise me, but they did sadden me. I'm used to people's perceptions of the amount of time off teachers have, but this seemed somehow more personal.
There are a lot of people out there who seem to feel that teachers are lazy, dictatorial and incompetent, and who really have some strongly negative attitudes towards teachers.
Any ideas why?
