Famous Confucius Quotes

Chose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.

In a country well governed poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed wealth is something to be ashamed of.

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of ten years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.

To see and listen to the wicked is already the beginning of wickedness.

Sincerity and truth are the basis of every virtue.

He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.

Acquire new knowledge whilst thinking over the old, and you may become a teacher of others.

A man who has committed a mistake and doesn't correct it is committing another mistake.

By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is the easiest; and third, by experience, which is the bitterest.

He does not preach what he practices till he has practiced what he preaches.

He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.

Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fall.

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

The superior man acts before he speaks, and afterwards speaks according to his action.

To know that one knows what one knows, and to know that one doesn't know what one doesn't know, there lies true wisdom.

To practice five things under all circumstances constitutes perfect virtue; these five are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness.

To see what is right, and not do it, is want of courage, or of principle.

When you know a thing, to hold that you know it; and when you do not know a thing, to allow that you do not know it--this is knowledge.

Everything You Want Appears -- Seemingly Out of Thin Air

There is a science that deals with manifesting desires. Many
people regard it as mystical or esoteric, but it's actually a
science like physics or algebra.

There are certain immutable laws that govern the process of
materializing wishes seemingly out of thin air, and once these
laws are complied with, anyone can make their dreams a reality
-- with absolute certainty.

Hello! Searching for it at 8pm on Sunday 10.08.08....... Yes, it is on BBC iPlayer! 4 hours of it! The main clip lasts 60 mins and is a poor summary of bits. Go to bottom left of screen and click on "More Episodes" or some similar tiltle and you'll get something which resembles the live coverage. Fast-forward to 30 mins and you'll see The Scroll, at 35 mins you'll see The Disciples of Confucius (sp?) etc and the whole thing seems to be there. Politics aside, I thought itt was a breath-taking spectacle. Hope you find it! John.

Were They Really Ancient Wise Men?
Although I am an atheist, I often find myself agreeing with some of the principles of religions such as Buddhism and Taoism. I know other atheists that agree with some of the fundamental principles of Christianity too. My question is: Did the people who created these principles have genuine wisdom, or did they just make them up for sociological reasons? I'd especially like to see people's opinions about religious figures such as Confucius and Jesus.
