What are your views on Peter Singer?
He's supposedly the father of the animal rights movement. His views on abortion make me want to vomit but what do you think of him as far as animal rights go?
No he's pro-choice but believes you should be able to chose after the child is born.
Yeah, he's done a lot of good. Writing Animal Liberation, for starters. I don't get why he isn't vegan though.

How does the proletariat have a universal character??
In Peter Singer's 'Marx - A Very Short Introduction', I have read that, since human alienation is not a problem of a particular class, but a universal problem, whatever is to solve it must have a universal character', and that Marx claims the proletariat has this universal character 'in virtue of its total deprivation'. But how can 'total deprivation' be a universal characterisitc? Not every is deprivaed. Some people have never known deprivation or anything like it.
