Today's Story on HAPPINESS: Do we ever do enough to maintain our capacity to be happy? Once we've ascertained some understanding on what feeds the roots of happiness, we actively need to replenish the fodder. I was once reading an article from a well known musician and singer from the 1960's. He maintained that one of the biggest attributes he possessed was his ability to talk and be polite. He said that there was one particular sentence that open more doors than you could imagine. Now before I tell you the sentence, a wise person would have used this on numerous occasions during every day. But what made this sentence particular impressive was this musician used it to advance his career, from a mere jobbing musician and singer to international artiste. The sentence was, 'Can you help me please.' The musician claimed that people have an incredible desire to help. So upon hearing this question people just naturally want to be HELPFUL. As with a ripple in a lake, if we ask for help 'more often' then that would start the ripple; however before that ripple reaches the edge of the lake we need to start another. This is how often we need to feed and maintain our level of happiness. One way is to encourage people, including you, is to never be too proud to ask for help. Today's story is a slight twist to this scenario, but nonetheless the main theme is being HELPFUL. AN AUSSIE STORY Years ago a hardworking man took his family from New York State to Australia to take advantage of a work opportunity there. Part of this man's family was a handsome young son who had aspirations of joining the circus as a trapeze artist or an actor. This young fellow, biding his time until a circus job or even one as a stagehand came along, worked at the local shipyards which bordered on the worse section of town. Walking home from work one evening this young man was attacked by five thugs who wanted to rob him. Instead of just giving up his money the young fellow resisted. However they bested him easily and proceeded to beat him to a pulp. They mashed his face with their boots, and kicked and beat his body brutally with clubs, leaving him for dead. When the police happened to find him lying in the road they assumed he was dead and called for the Morgue Wagon. On the way to the morgue a policeman heard him gasp for air, and they immediately took him to the emergency unit at the hospital. When he was placed on a gurney a nurse remarked to her horror, that this young man no longer had a face. Each eye socket was smashed, his skull, legs, and arms fractured, his nose literally hanging from his face, all is teeth were gone, and his jaw was almost completely torn from his skull. Although his life was spared, he spent over a year in the hospital. When he finally left, his body may have healed but his face was disgusting to look at. He was no longer the handsome youth that everyone admired. When the young man started to look for work again he was turned down by everyone just on account of the way he looked. One potential employer suggested to him that he join the freak show at the circus as The Man Who Had No Face. And he did this for a while. He was still rejected by everyone and no one wanted to be seen in his company. He had thoughts of suicide. This went on for five years. One day he passed a church and sought some solace there. Entering the church he encountered a priest who saw him sobbing while kneeling in a pew. The priest took pity on him and took him to the rectory where they talked at length. The priest was impressed with him to such a degree that he said that he would do everything possible for him that could be done to restore his dignity and life, if the young man would promise to be the best Catholic he could be, and trust in God's mercy to free him from his torturous life. The young man went to Mass and communion every day, and after thanking God for saving his life, asked God to only give him peace of mind and the grace to be the best man he could ever be in His eyes. The priest, through his personal contacts was able to secure the services of the best plastic surgeon in Australia. There would be no cost to the young man, as the doctor was the priest's best friend. The doctor too was so impressed by the young man. Whose outlook now on life, even though he had experienced the worst, was filled with good humor and love. The surgery was a miraculous success. All the best dental work was also done for him. The young man became everything he promised God he would be. He was also blessed with a wonderful, beautiful wife, many children, and success in an industry which would have been the furthest thing from his mind as a career, if not for the goodness of God and the love of the people who cared for him. This he acknowledges publicly. The young man's name is... Mel Gibson. (Attributed to Paul Harvey) QUOTE: 'Go often to the house of thy friend; for weeds soon choke up an unused path.' (Scandinavian Proverb)

Reviewing the Recent Change in Arsene Wenger's Approach to the Carling Cup

26 May 2012 at 7:31pm  Some?OK, many? have questioned Arsene Wenger's decision to field largely youthful squads littered with Arsenal 's top burgeoning talent for the early rounds (sometimes, all the way to the final) of the Carling Cup; others have heralded the decision as an applause-worthy testament to the confidence he shows in youth. HOW MANY PARENTS STILL WANT THEIR CHILDREN TO HAVE THE SINGULAR MMR?
My third child who is two in May 2011 has had her first set of the MMR jabs individually, but has not had her MUMPS, due to it not being available. Next year 2012 she will be going to nursery and will be expected to have had her booster MMR. I know that some parents are reluctantly choosing to do that at this point. This is something i am very unhappy about!!! I do not know whether the nursery will insist on her having the MMR ?? The clinics said at the time of her last injections that they were awaiting for the mumps vaccine, but i dont think we will be getting it, from what i can tell, it would appear that the manufacturer has stopped making it. The Government seems to have come to the conclusion that there is no link to autism, which makes me think that's why there are no efforts to get the mumps vaccine from another manufacturer, yet they still allow the measles and rubella to be available to us, which leaves me confused. I just want to know if there are other parents with this situation and what they intend to do, or if they have information as to when or where else we can get the mumps vaccine from, or who else i could contact regarding this. I dont see the point in having the singular injections and then just to have the all in one before nursery. I really dont believe that there is not a link to autism, even with a slightest bit of doubt i have been prepared to pay for my daughter to have the single jabs just for a piece of mind, surely we should still be able to have this choice....

Can you get your own bank to stop unkown parties taking money from your account?
I've had some dodgy companies taking small amounts of money from my account. I've tried to get in touch with them and of course, surprise surprise, they're seemingly scam artists. If I inform my bank of these transactions, can they stop them from happening in the future? Or is it best to close the account and get a new one? Thanks, would really appreciate some good answers on this, this is a real piece of mind issue.

Where can I get my Maximum Heart Rate properly assessed?
37, male, when I jump on the treadmill for a 1-hour run I manage to cover an unimpressive 5+ miles. My concern is that I find myself running for most of the time with the heart rate at around 190 bpm. It would go even higher if I didn't get to scared to dare. At the end of the session I am obviously tired, but not more than one would expect, I have no chest pain whatsoever, no particular dizziness (well, just a bit but, again, it's a one-hour run). According to the various formulas and considering my age, I am training well above the 80% of the "typical" MHR, which is about 183 bpm. After doing lots of reading on the subject I have come to the conclusion that the only way for me to get some piece of mind is to find out what my MHR precisely is. Does anybody know of any clinic, possibly not too far from the Sutton (SM1) area, that can help me? Thanks, Paolo

How much does it cost to fit new cranks to my 80cc engine, my current ones are not broke or shredding?
Just had a 80cc Cylinder kit fitted by garage and tuned for it so proper lube is going to the cranks. The garage said it will be ok for 6 months on my normal cranks, but for a piece of mind and better performance Im going to get new durable race cranks. So how much on average would it cost just for the fitting of them? Also there is nothing wrong with my current cranks but, its not worth taking the risk with stock cranks with that kind of compression from my Polini 80cc Kit My garage quoted £300 but they are a rip off for stuff like that I know it should only take 3 or 4 hours labour which is about £200 so can someone tell me what sort of price I am looking at just for the fitting? because I will try differen't garages? its only a 80cc engine remember easy to take apart? Its a Derbi GPR 50 Racing Replica by the way Nothing wrong with my current cranks by the way..............but with the sort of compression and the power there will be soon I know, I got 90mph down a hill the other day and it wasn't much of a hill, the garage measured it up having 20BHP......and it goes 80, 85 on the flat easy its so light Thanks
