Today's Story on HAPPINESS: QUOTE: 'Be happy with what you've got, rather than waste all your life striving for something that you expect to make you happy.' That quote is saying be happy now, rather than wait until tomorrow. You may recall saying something like this, 'I'll be happy when I get my new car tomorrow.' What is wrong with being happy now? As a general rule of thumb, every upon every piece of written material that encourages you to be more prosperous in life, in both money and health; starts with motivating you to be happy. Happiness attracts happiness. Happiness opens doors you never thought existed. Whatever you have been striving for, whether that be for something in the next week, month, year or decade, be happy first and watch that goal become more achievable by the second. Make the most of what you have, smile at the very fact that you are alive and well. Appreciate the small things, offer love and affection to the big things; you'll notice that you become a magnet for more happiness. If you cannot see anything to be happy for, try turning a negative into a positive or if you can turn a sour moment that becomes a test of endurance into a cherished moment, you'll become an inventor of happiness. In fact... just remember this next story, it's a gem. CRACKED or PERFECT A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on each end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house. The cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master's house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and want to apologize to you." "Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?" "I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts, " the pot said. The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path." Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again he expressed his feeling to the water bearer. He replied by saying, "Did you notice that flowers were only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house." (Unknown Author). QUOTE: "No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.' (Barbara De Angelis)

Isaiah 7:14 - What virgin birth?
The church freely admits that the 'virgin birth' narratives are forgeries and has no special prediction of a divine birth. This is the exact quotation certified by hundreds of Christian experts at Catholic Universities and sanctioned by the Roman Catholic church, printed in the 15th Volume of their Encyclopedia (page 451), it reads:
Modern theology does not grant that Isaiah 7:14 contains a real prophecy fulfilled in the virgin birth of Christ; It must maintain therefore that St Matthew misunderstood the passage...
All canonical Gospels were originally untitled. And again, confirming that the virgin birth narratives are not based on fact, the church said:
There seems to be no doubt that the infancy narratives of Matthew and Luke were later additions to the original body of the apostolic catechises. - New Catholic Encyclopedia, 1967 Ed. Vol, xiv; page 693.
"In the latter part of the 5th century the church became aware of the false name applied to Jesus and, to neutralise an obvious display of plagiarism, five new words were added to the Matthew Gospel. Those words pretended that the name 'Immanuel' had a special religious meaning and it was therefore proper to refer to baby Jesus by that name. The explanation ('which means, God with us'; Matt 1:23) is not in the oldest Matthew Gospels but appears in brackets in most modern-day Bibles. However the church subsequently admitted that those five words were 'derived from extraneous sources', and therefore fictitious" - New Catholic Encyclopedia, 1967, 'Emmanual'. - Crucifixion of Truth, Tony Bushby.
If a Christian is to take Isaiah 7:14 on face value and completely ignore the rest of the prophecy and its meaning, then it is true from a popular quote that, 'Those who believe the Bible the most, know the least about it'. Just follow on and read the next few verses and it becomes very clear that the prophecy is a reference to a son born of Isaiah himself. This special 'Child' was a sign that, indeed 'God was with us' in reference to the political upheaval at the time. It explicitly states that this 'Child' would still be very young when the conflict was over.
You are not told about these things because religion is big business. When a human brain is 'hard wired' by religious doctrine, it loses all of its critical thinking skills. It's a bit like looking through a pair of binoculars with one eye closed.
So my question is, do you accept Isaiah 7:14 without even considering the rest of the prophecy and its meaning? Is it okay to accept what you are told without even questioning it? Remember, most Christian leaders will tell you to believe without question. I was told growing up that if I even doubted, I was damned. Is this an honest and intellectual approach? Did God give us such a complex brain to be so easily fooled?
All comments are welcome. It's not my purpose to undermine a persons faith. I'm simply pointing out what I see after many years of study and research.
Muldah: You didn't answer my questions. You just quoted other scripture to suit your mindset. This is typical of a cult attitude. You completely ignored what I said. What you said has absolutely nothing to do what I said or asked.
Josh: It's no wonder I don't post here that often anymore....
Tryingto care: You just proved my point.
Feral-Ti... Your reply rant's and raves like all Christian scholars that I have been in contact with; They simply deny and disregard my question in the first place. It's so easy to quote this and that. I admit i did in my question, but at the end of the day I asked a simple question. A question that's overlooked by many and the excuses for it are very sad indeed.
Morporc: Did you know that there was 1,500 prostitutes employed at the time of that council to help them make their decision in what you believe in today?
Hopeof kingdom: Did you ever even read the rest of that prophecy? Why wont people just answer what I said and just stop adding unnecesssary scripture that is totally irrrevalent

"The definition of an atheist is someone who goes to a (Celtics/Rangers) game for the football." ?
Celtic and the Rangers are the Protestant and Catholic (respectively) teams that hail from Glasgow, Scotland. In this divisive area, matches can turn into mini-religious wars played out on a soccer field, and more importantly, in the stands. Or, to put it another way, just think about this popular quote: "The definition of an atheist is someone who goes to a (Celtics/Rangers) game for the football." During this particular match, tensions boiled over, resulting in over 70 arrests and two deaths. Fourteen years later, a similar dustup between the two clubs would result in 50 injuries and over 200 arrests.
