A loving heart is the truest wisdom.
Charles Dickens
A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world!
Charles Dickens
Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do it well; whatever I
have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself completely; in great aims and in small I
have always thoroughly been in earnest.
Charles Dickens
I feel an earnest and humble desire, and shall till I die, to increase the stock of harmless
cheerfulness.
Charles Dickens
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.
Charles Dickens
Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days,
recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his
own fireside and quiet home!
Charles Dickens
I do come home at Christmas. We all do, or we all should. We all come home, or ought to
come home, for a short holiday - the longer, the better - from the great boarding school
where we are forever working at our arithmetical slates, to take, and give a rest.
Charles Dickens
I have always thought of Christmas as a good time; a kind, forgiving, generous, pleasant
time; a time when men and women seem to open their hearts freely, and so I say, God
bless Christmas!
Charles Dickens
It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive
possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim
observed, God Bless Us, Every One!
Charles Dickens
Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic
ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments,
affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and
make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete.
Charles Dickens

+ The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express.
Francis Bacon
+ The worst solitude is to have no real friendships.
Francis Bacon
+ Time is the measure of business.
Francis Bacon
+ Without friends the world is but a wilderness. There is no man that imparted his joys to
his friends, but he joyeth the more; and no man that imparted his grieves to his friend,
but he grieveth the less.
Francis Bacon
+ I would live to study, and not study to live.
Francis Bacon

lost by not trying.

Everything You Want Appears -- Seemingly Out of Thin Air

There is a science that deals with manifesting desires. Many
people regard it as mystical or esoteric, but it's actually a
science like physics or algebra.

There are certain immutable laws that govern the process of
materializing wishes seemingly out of thin air, and once these
laws are complied with, anyone can make their dreams a reality
-- with absolute certainty.

How exactly is Christianity destroying the West?
Yesterday I was here and in an answer an atheist wrote that that reason she hated Christians is because "Christianity is destroying the west". Since then I've been unable to stop thinking about why she could possibly have that opinion, because it's so utterly deluded and is probably the most delusional thing I've ever read an atheist write on here. I know that atheists frequently mention the crusades like they have a clue what they were about, and I can understand that, because not many people know much about history; but when contemporary statements are made like "Christianity is destroying the west" I can't understand where/when/how these ideas get into an atheist's head, so I'm wondering whether an atheists here could explain it without getting all defensive and confrontational as usual, but simply just give reasons why a fellow atheist would assert such a statement as that? Certainly in the UK we have been a Christian State for a very long time and in all that time we have made positive progress and we are acknowledged by the rest of the world as being one of the best countries in the world for many reasons; which is why people have always chosen to migrate to live, work and study here. All our social issues are certainly not being caused by Christianity causing them, or Christianity "destroying" us. Please try to keep your answer relevant to TODAY rather than bringing up anything in the past, because my question is about the statement - "Christianity is destroying the west" - which means the current, present time. Can you say anything to support that statement, or to explain it? Why the 'hate'? What has happened? The UK is much more secular than it's ever been, so I thought this would make atheists happier rather than making them more militant. Thank you.
