A loving heart is the truest wisdom.
Charles Dickens
A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world!
Charles Dickens
Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do it well; whatever I
have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself completely; in great aims and in small I
have always thoroughly been in earnest.
Charles Dickens
I feel an earnest and humble desire, and shall till I die, to increase the stock of harmless
cheerfulness.
Charles Dickens
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.
Charles Dickens
Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days,
recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his
own fireside and quiet home!
Charles Dickens
I do come home at Christmas. We all do, or we all should. We all come home, or ought to
come home, for a short holiday - the longer, the better - from the great boarding school
where we are forever working at our arithmetical slates, to take, and give a rest.
Charles Dickens
I have always thought of Christmas as a good time; a kind, forgiving, generous, pleasant
time; a time when men and women seem to open their hearts freely, and so I say, God
bless Christmas!
Charles Dickens
It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive
possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim
observed, God Bless Us, Every One!
Charles Dickens
Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic
ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments,
affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and
make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete.
Charles Dickens

+ The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express.
Francis Bacon
+ The worst solitude is to have no real friendships.
Francis Bacon
+ Time is the measure of business.
Francis Bacon
+ Without friends the world is but a wilderness. There is no man that imparted his joys to
his friends, but he joyeth the more; and no man that imparted his grieves to his friend,
but he grieveth the less.
Francis Bacon
+ I would live to study, and not study to live.
Francis Bacon
+ There is no comparison between that which is lost by not succeeding and that which is
lost by not trying.
Francis Bacon
+ Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.
Francis Bacon
+ Cure the disease and kill the patient.
Francis Bacon
+ In every great time there is some one idea at work which is more powerful than any
other, and which shapes the events of the time and determines their ultimate issues.
Francis Bacon
+ Acorns were good until bread was found.

Everything You Want Appears -- Seemingly Out of Thin Air

There is a science that deals with manifesting desires. Many
people regard it as mystical or esoteric, but it's actually a
science like physics or algebra.

There are certain immutable laws that govern the process of
materializing wishes seemingly out of thin air, and once these
laws are complied with, anyone can make their dreams a reality
-- with absolute certainty.

Is it a god-given right to stand on street corners holding incriminating signs?
Pat- I was using the definition referring to making someone appear guilty of a wrongdoing. Not necessarily a crime. Sod off. There is no specific legislation in place that guarantees free speech (per se) In the U.K. Some of those old christian fish are starting a ruckus.

A question for/about atheists?
Atheists by definition know that there is no God/Gods. How do they come to this conclusion? Do they pray and get no answer? Are they people who have never had a religious upbringing? Or is this just something they think? I often hear that it is because there is no proof that God exists. If this is true - what is the test for God/Gods existing? Some very flimsy arguments here - come on people! As a scientist myself, can I also just point out that there is no proof for any of the following: Time String theory Parallel universes Some very flimsy arguments here - come on people! In Pokemon: Christian Red, which rule should I break?
There's this religious themed Pokemon challenge called the Christian Challenge, which involves playing the game using rules based on conservative religious views. Most are simple -- no evolution, no same-sex daycares, etc. -- but there's this confliction I face. One goal of the game is to track down and "kill" the legendary Pokemon, for being false idols. However, another rule is that you cannot have any Psychic, Ghost or Dark Pokemon or moves. These two cannot both be true, as anyone who knows about the Mew glitch can attest to. You need to catch an Abra to make Mew, the most legendary of all, appear. So, from both a gameplay and religious viewpoint, which rules should be broken -- kill all false gods, or avoid evil Pokemon? (Also, I think this contradiction might be intentional. Religious satire and all.)
