Famous Charles Dickens Quotes

A loving heart is the truest wisdom.

A merry Christmas to everybody! A happy New Year to all the world!

Whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do it well; whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself completely; in great aims and in small I have always thoroughly been in earnest.

I feel an earnest and humble desire, and shall till I die, to increase the stock of harmless cheerfulness.

Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home!

I do come home at Christmas. We all do, or we all should. We all come home, or ought to come home, for a short holiday - the longer, the better - from the great boarding school where we are forever working at our arithmetical slates, to take, and give a rest.

I have always thought of Christmas as a good time; a kind, forgiving, generous, pleasant time; a time when men and women seem to open their hearts freely, and so I say, God bless Christmas!

It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God Bless Us, Every One!

Time was with most of us, when Christmas Day, encircling all our limited world like a magic ring, left nothing out for us to miss or seek; bound together all our home enjoyments, affections, and hopes; grouped everything and everyone round the Christmas fire, and make the little picture shining in our bright young eyes, complete.

But I am sure that I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round...as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely.

It is a melancholy truth that even great men have their poor relations.

A day wasted on others is not wasted on one's self.

Law is an ass, an idiot.

An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself.

Electric communication will never be a substitute for the face of someone who with their soul encourages another person to be brave and true.

Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.

I am sure that I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round...as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely.

I never could have done what I have done without the habits of punctuality, order, and diligence, without the determination to concentrate myself on one subject at a time.

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all year.

Everything You Want Appears -- Seemingly Out of Thin Air

There is a science that deals with manifesting desires. Many
people regard it as mystical or esoteric, but it's actually a
science like physics or algebra.

There are certain immutable laws that govern the process of
materializing wishes seemingly out of thin air, and once these
laws are complied with, anyone can make their dreams a reality
-- with absolute certainty.

how shocked and angry would Shankly be at the current plight of LFC?
" my idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of Europe - make them untouchable - everybody would have to submit and give in..." submit and give in...give in...give in...give in....give in... echo ! echo ! echo ! ^_^ lol sorry couldn't resist. no other manger past or present - quotation wise, beats that quote by Shankly. It makes the hairs on my body stand right up, and I get tingles all over. So much passion, belief, drive and ambition - good god, how we fell off our perch. that quote rings in my head constantly. Liverpool use to be the best not just in England but in Europe. A name feared and respected in football - is now, just another name in football. tragic. to make matters worse - Fenway Sports Group made a blunder, a huge one actualy - in sacking Kenny Dalglish. we're in deep sh1t now imo. lol @ Paisley, mate I know the quote - that was just my shortened version. yes it was 'bastion of invincibility' in the 70s and 80s thats what we pretty much were imo.

My brothers parked car was hit in a parking lot, and now the person who hit it refuses to pay. What can we do?
We were at a lake inside our mothers gated community and a gentleman approached my brother saying he had just backed into his car. My brother went over to assess the damage and the guy gave him a business card and said that the vehicle was a company vehicle and that he would pay for the damage out of pocket because if he turned it in to their insurance he would lose his job for A) being in an accident and B) using the vehicle (And the gas card) to travel 100 miles out of town on a day he was not working. My brother obliged, and got a quote to send to the gentlemen. When he called the guy wouldn't answer. Eventually my dad tried calling and the guy answered saying that he had no money, no insurance, and the truck was not a company vehicle and he refuses to pay. We don't have ANY information about this guy aside from what was on his business card, which was just basic contact information and his contractors number. What can we do to get this guy to pay up?
