Today's Story on CHILDREN: I will always advocate listening to your children as they will teach you valuable lessons. However today, we'll explore the responsibility of the adult towards children. Children do of course benefit from education and the adult is responsible in overseeing that they get the right information. Today's society and I mean television, brainwashes children into believing that this is how life is. My eldest daughter (7 years old) asked for something to eat before bedtime and I responded with, 'How about some bread and jam?' 'What's jam?' asked my daughter. What a strange feeling came over me. I showed her the jar and she turned her nose up and said, 'No thanks!' Chips and Chicken Nuggets, Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Biscuits (Cookies), Cereal, Pasta, Pizza, Tacos, Burger and Chips etc. etc. They do get plenty of fruit, but the point is, if it is not on television they are not going to know about it! (Apart of course from the failing of the parent which I didn't want to mention). So my lady played a game. To teach through play is good. We blindfolded my daughter and asked her to taste six different flavours. Jam, Marmalade, Mayonnaise, Brown Sauce, Honey and Marmite; all of which upon viewing them she refused to indulge in. As we played the game we introduced her to five new tastes that she enjoyed, and one she flatly refused. The blindfold did the trick. In a frustrating moment of, 'What's jam?' I would have never have thought, let's play a game. But it was the game that saved the day. Now of course she wants to play the same game with different tastes each day. Today's story is another gem that you may well want to use... BAKING A CAKE A very ill little boy was telling his Grandma how "everything" was going wrong ...school was too hard, family problems other than his illness, his severe pain, just all the hardships he was going through. Meanwhile, Grandma was baking a cake. She asked the child if he would like a snack, which of course he does. "Here. Have some cooking oil." "Yuck, " said the boy. "How about a couple of raw eggs?" "Gross, Grandma." "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?" "Grandma, those are all yucky!" To which the Grandma replied: "Yes, Sweetheart, those things seem bad all by themselves. But, when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times, but, God knows that, when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually the yucky stuff will make of our lives something wonderful! "Just like Baking a Cake.' (Unknown Author). QUOTE: "Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.' (Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr).

what is an example of when referendums disadvantage the minority viewpoint? (Answers: 8) (Comments: 0)
Got a government and politics essay and I need to explain advantages and disadvantages of referendums. I can't think of an example to support my point that minority viewpoints are ignored, so like the majority is always taken as a final decision?

10 points to the first person to link me to a landscape picture of The Harrow Viewpoint, West London? (Answers: 1) (Comments: 0)
I've been there before, it has the best views in West London. But for some reason there are only vague references to it online, and no decent pictures whatsoever. It's like it's a secret or something. Yes, it's near Harrow on the Hill train station. None of the pictures in the link were taken from the viewpoint.

Do you think that this viewpoint is still valid in todays celebrity culture Britain? (Answers: 3) (Comments: 0)
An old actor (actually Eric Portman) once said that acting is like masturbation - one either does it or doesn't, but one never talks about it. Would British society benefit from this attitude today?

What is the laws viewpoint regarding black magic? (Answers: 6) (Comments: 0)
Hypothetical situation. A black magician casts a spell on his victim with the intention of killing hime. The victims family find out about this and are obviously angry and want justice. Would there be anything she could do about it via the court legal system? I mean, would the law actually recognise black magic and consider it as a weapon or whatever?

What is your viewpoint on a collective (sub)consciousness? (Answers: 10) (Comments: 0)
I put the (sub) in brackets because to me it feels as if there is something that binds certain individuals together but they are not aware of it and therefore i call it a collective subconsciousness.
