I received
your newsletter " What Love Brings " from a colleague at work. Having read
the article I found my heart touched and my eyes filled with tears. The
information made me look back on my life on how I have been touched &
loved in so many different ways. It made me also realize what
responsibility we have towards each other, and what influence we have in
others lives.
a I just want to say that today's messages hit home for me. I am going through a very difficult time in my own life. I have always been a strong person. With situations I am dealing with in my life at the present I feel I don't have much strength left. I don't know why or for what reason you created this newsletter to share with others, but I just want to let you know your messages have help me. And, I thank you for that. I am a firm believer that things do happen for a reason. I also believe people enter each other's lives for a reason. I don't know why you're there, but I do know who you are.......Thank You...........(smile). Jan

Phil, I just sat
down to begin my day and found your newsletter waiting for me. I enjoyed
your stories and was very appreciative that it didn't end with "send this
to 100 other people". Your labor is a work of the heart and I encourage
you to continue with your message of evolution of the spirit.

TWO WOLVES
An old Grandfather, whose grandson came to him with anger at a schoolmate who had done him an injustice, said, "Let me tell you a story. I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those that have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down, and does not hurt your enemy. It is like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die. I have struggled with these feelings many times."
He continued, "It is as if there are two wolves inside me; one is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and does not take offence when no offence was intended. He will only fight when it is right to do so, and in the right way."
"But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The littlest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit."
The boy looked intently into his Grandfather's eyes and asked, "Which one wins, Grandfather?"
The Grandfather solemnly said, "The one I feed."

HERE IS A SAMPLE NEWSLETTER...
INTRODUCTION to our subject – Priceless
Why do we make the occasional strange decision; when any other day such an option would never be considered?
Our state of mind will ebb and flow and as such so does our power to produce constantly good results.
Few people realise the power of an emotion. Most everybody is WISE, but like the pull of a magnet we are pulled by an emotion to make a decision that qualifies us as anything but wise.
We most definitely have some good morals, we no doubt have some sound fundamental principals; all built up on a foundation of a consistently good collection of ethics that we continually add to every day. So how can we go wrong?
The POWER of an emotion! It can rip the heart out of our opportunity for good decisions.
Wisdom is about recognising how our emotions can affect our decision making tools. Fifty percent of the skill required to maintain a ‘level head’ under stressful situations is that of recognition. If we can SEE how our emotions manipulate the power of decision then we’re half way to combating their control.
QUOTE: "Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting over lost days... What you can do or think you can do, begin it. For boldness has magic, power, and genius in it." (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749-1832, Poet, Novelist and Scientist)
During last week I had to call at several people’s addresses; but I had just been involved in a tricky situation that had made my body shake with indecision. Out of the ten calls I was to make I’d knocked on two doors that were the wrong address. One was the wrong number and the second was the wrong road… I’d read the map wrong!
If we can make these minor mistakes, albeit not life threatening, we could make others that could affect us more substantially.
For example: If we get into an emotional tangle with a family member we’re likely to say things that we later regret. We need to understand first that an emotion is dominant and keep calm. Our best decisions are executed in a calm state of mind.
QUOTE: "The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it." (John Ruskin, 1819-1900, Artist and Author)
QUOTE: "When one door closes another one opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us." (Alexander Graham Bell, 1847-1922, Inventor)
Allow our stories to illustrate the priceless quality of RECOGNITION in practice.
2. STORY 1
STICKY NOTES
I received an email from a friend of mine today sharing the good news that he had been promoted to vice president in a prestigious company.
Now, I'm not certain what this means, but added to his retired government employee pension, I'm fairly sure it translates into pretty big bucks.
Was I pleased for him? I should have been. He puts in staggering hours at work, and is extremely productive -- an all around great guy. I sometimes wonder if his good wife remembers what he looks like.
But I wasn't pleased. In truth, I was just plain jealous! Why him, I thought? I'm pretty productive myself, but at my annual evaluation I received a meagre 4% raise and nothing resembling a promotion. I lay awake at night worrying about the hefty home equity loan I had to take out to keep the roof over our heads, literally. I pray that my college age daughter doesn't overdraw her checking account, again. I peek at the mileage on my '93 Camry, and tell myself that 135,000 miles is nothing for a Toyota. Instead of wishing my friend well, I was wallowing in self-pity -- staring in envious stupor at the computer.
Ah, but the Lord indeed moves in mysterious ways.
Something caught my eye. Two tattered sticky notes, attached to my computer. They've been there for a few years, so I don't usually "see" them anymore. But today I saw them again, as if for the first time.
One is lime green with the message, "Have a great day Mom! I love you!" That one is from my daughter Helen. She was probably 11 or 12 when she wrote it. She's 15 now, and besides being an excellent student, my little hospital candy striper is a beautiful and caring young woman. She still asks for a hug, and still wants her "mommy" to tuck her in at night. Now there's something money can't buy.
The second note is lemon yellow. This one is from my son Stephen, now 10. By the wobbly handwriting, I'm guessing this note is vintage 6 year-old. It simply says, "I love you Mom." He continues to echo that sentiment every day in a long-standing ritual. When I drop him off for school, I'll say, "I love you Stevie". His reply is, "I love you. Angels around you and your car!"
I look around my office and see the homemade artwork, and the cluttered array of photos. I see a favorite picture of my oldest daughter Annie, except in this picture she is an awesome little blonde creature of two, clutching her stuffed cat Ming and leaning against her (wow...young!) mom. Ming hasn't changed much over the years, but Annie has. Despite the overdrawn checkbook, she constantly amazes me with her self-motivation. I am convinced that Annie can do anything she sets her mind to, which includes making her crabby mother laugh when she needs it most. She is still awesome.
I realize with infinite gratitude that my friend can keep his vice president's title and all the money that goes with it, with my best wishes for success.
I wouldn't trade my title for any other, and no one in the world will ever share it. I'm Annie, Helen and Stevie's mom. Priceless!

3. STORY 2
THE TROUBLE TREE
I hired a carpenter to help me restore an
old farmhouse, and after he had just finished a rough first day on the
job...a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw
quit...and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

4. ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS
QUESTION: “I encounter problem after problem. My life just isn’t getting easier. I thought as I grew older problems began to slow down. What am I doing wrong?”
It is a change of perspective. Allow me to illustrate…
END YOUR DIFFICULTIES
Will today be a difficult day for you?
That depends on whether or not you decide to make it one. Just about anything can be difficult when you make the active decision to consider it so.
We often assume that things such as focused effort, discipline, commitment, and persistence are difficult, and as such are to be avoided if at all possible. Yet that is just an opinion. When you think about it, "difficult" and "easy" are very arbitrary terms. Thinking of something as difficult, just makes it that much more difficult.
So what's the purpose of it?
Imagine what would happen if instead of thinking, "This is hard work and I can just barely tolerate it," you thought "This is necessary work and I'm thankful that I'm able to do it."
Making judgments about whether something is difficult or easy doesn't contribute anything to the level of accomplishment. Stop categorizing tasks as difficult and you'll no longer have to do anything difficult.
Just do what needs to be done and truly enjoy the fulfilling road to achievement.

5. PHILOSOPHICAL TIPS & QUOTES
“Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of our daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men – above all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness depends.” (Scientist Albert Einstein (1879-1955))
"Life is like riding a bike. It is impossible to maintain your balance while standing still." (Linda Brakeall, Author)
"Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs." (Dr. Maxwell Maltz, 1899-1975, Author)
