Www Mind

Today's Story on HAPPINESS: If you are not happy all of the time, then at least be assured that this is how most people exist. It is how most of us seem to perceive our humdrum existence. Yet however, we can improve this ratio of understanding with practice. With a steady progress we can also become skilful at being happy for longer and more often. Let me explain with a story how easy it is to approach life in the wrong manner. If you can raise a smile at this story, you'll be aware that this type of anger exists within your own soul. REVENGE ...Once upon a time, there was a wise man who insisted that to live well, one had to be positive and thankful for all of life. One day, a traveller came to him and said, 'How can I be positive? Nothing goes right in life! I've been badly hurt by people I have trusted, and now I want revenge!' The wise man shook his head. 'What would you do to those that hurt you?' he asked. 'I'd tear them limb from limb... I'd ruin their business... I'd...' and he broke off. 'Can you help me get revenge?' he begged. 'Yes'' said the wise man. 'I'll certainly help you, but first you must do two things for me.' 'I will, ' said the traveller. 'First, ' said the wise man, 'I want you to tear a branch off that tree over there.' The traveller readily went to the tree and twisted off a large branch. 'There you are! What's the second thing?' The wise man smiled. 'Now put it back, ' he said. The traveller stood staring. 'I can't do that, ' he said. 'No, ' said the wise man. 'So remember this; it's very easy to wound and destroy, but it is more difficult to repair the damage that has been done. Note that the tree won't hurt you back. It will go on growing and bearing fruit. It's much better to be creative than destructive - - even to people that have hurt you.'... For every moment you want revenge, and then realise it is both pitiful and destructive, there is a moment of sweetness soon after; as you settle for a positive attitude instead of a negative. Rather than wallow in your own sadness, rejoice in the skill you have developed to overcome your revenge. (Unknown Author) QUOTE: 'Just as a trainer disciplines and calms a wild and wilful steed by subjecting it to skilful and prolonged training, so must the wild, wandering, random activities of body and speech be tamed to make them docile, righteous and skilful.' (His Holiness the Dalai Lama).

What do you make of this....?
I just received a VN for a pizz take question.. In which at some point i said, help me before i kill myself. Yahoo have just sent me this.. Hello, We are writing to let you know that Yahoo! takes our users' welfare and the issue of suicide very seriously. We do not monitor our message boards, but sometimes messages are brought to our attention where suicide is being discussed. As a third party it is always difficult for us to assess what individuals using our service may really be thinking or feeling, and we are not in a position to provide specific medical referrals or other kinds of assistance. However, we urge you to enlist help if suicide is a subject that is being seriously considered. If you believe that you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 999 for assistance. Please read: Working with mentally ill people...?
I'm doing a work experience at a mental health charity called 'Mind': http://www.mind.org.uk/ It seemed fun at first because i like charity and psychology and stuff but now i'm getting worried... What sort of people will be there? Would it be your everyday amnesiac or an explosive knife-wielding pshycopath??? What if there is someone so deeply traumatised.... what would i say to them?? I dunno... do you think i'm over analysing this?

So called "professionals"?
You always hear "Get help theres plenty of it out there" or "Go to the doctors and explain how you feel" but in reality that is just not the case for me. I dont know about anyone elses experience here but the professionals are the last people that want to help you. Ive seen every doctor at my registerd practice, none of them believed a word i was saying a did not want to help at all. The only time i got a step further though the system was when i refused to leave the room and i got put through to a mental health nurse. She then dismissed me as well and promptly left the premises as she had "more important things to attend to". Makes me confused when every help site/phoneline/mental health ad etc tells you to seek professional help. For example Minds recent campaign to encourage men to seek help when they need it: http://www.mind.org.uk/News+policy+and+campaigns/Campaigns/Men+and+mental+health/index.htm "31 per cent of men would feel embarrassed about seeking help for mental distress." and im not suprised when you get looked at in disgust and disbelief when you do go. It is true men are seen as the ones that should just suck it up and get over it. Ive seen people go in with very minor problems and get medication and counselling given to them straight away no questions asked. Yet I have told them about some very serious problems i have but trying to get anything out of them for me is like getting blood out of a stone as they say. I dont know why they think im having a laugh, i dont give them any reason to not believe me. Problem is clinical depression.

counselling problems?
I was refered by my doctor to counselling but he gave me run down, inexperienced local practices twice in a row now. So i am looking for any other places i can go for counselling that are free or are on the NHS, i can't afford Ł50 sessions or anything like that. The only other one i heard of was "mind" http://www.mind.org.uk Anyone had any experience of these? or can recommend any other good ones? I don't want to talk to someone over the phone i would rather it be face to face. Its nothing to do with sexual health, relationships (none existant to me) so ones like "Relate" aren't that suitable. You have some cheek more like, you must be a joke of a counsellor. I bet you ruin more lives than you improve with that attitude. Boast about your achievements all you like we can all pull random "newspaper interviews" and "ive helped famous people" out our rear end on the internet. The botched shoddy excuse for a website you have is a joke. You clearly have no idea how the mental health system works in the UK or you live in a backwards country. The fact you are trying to use sarcasm to get your point across is pure comedy. And you still have the nerve to advertise your crap afterwards. LMFAO.

Do I have Borderline personality disorder (BPD)?
Hey, I'm 16 and I've been reading up on things like Depression, Schizophrenia and others.. because I feel just so so so so.. weird, confused self-hateful, 'down'.. Anti-social..etc. (to put it really really simply). I came across BPD and much to my amazement, found that I have alot of the symptoms mentioned. Now because I'm 16.. I don't know whether I have that "Teenage" condition where "I MUST have something wrong with me because I want attention" kinda thing. I'm really genuinely confused about myself. The only thing that I think explains my actions and feelings is.. BPD. Do you think I should go to a doctor and check myself out ? Or should I just take it as.."I'm young and I want something to be wrong with me" ? I read up on it on this : http://www.mind.org.uk/help/diagnoses_and_conditions/borderline_personality_disorder#What is Thankyou so much in advance..
